We welcomed previous donors and new donors, and heard from last year's awardee, Paige Driver!  M. Ryan Baucom received this year's Scholarship, administered through the ECU Medical and Health Sciences Foundation.

Thanks to Oliver & Cheek Law Firm, PLLC, for sponsoring the event! Thanks to MAKO Labs for its first donation to this scholarship also!

About our Founders:

  • Greenville Psychiatric Associates: Greenville Psychiatric Associates, Greenville’s longest standing private outpatient psychiatric practice, has been dedicated to serving the people of Eastern North Carolina and our colleagues in medicine since 1977. Despite the many changes in medical practice over the years, our philosophy of care has remained the same: “One patient at a time”. Each patient is evaluated and cared for as an individual with unique needs. We care for patients from age three onward. We consist of four board certified adult psychiatrists, one of whom is also board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry. We also have four therapists who work alongside our psychiatrists to provide comprehensive treatment tailored to each of our patients. We appreciate referrals from our colleagues, and we also accept self referrals; many of our new patients are recommended for treatment with us by our current patients. We are honored to be a Founders’ Circle member.

Did you know…

Tuition is now at $17,000 per year for each student?

Anticipated cost for each year totals $37,000 or more?

Starting salaries are not keeping pace with other expenses for early career physicians?

You now have a chance to impact the life of one of 80 Brody Students!  Pitt County Medical Society is launching the PCMS Promising Student Scholarship, first award scheduled for Fall 2014! Because this fund will be managed by Brody’s Health Sciences Foundation, we can be assured that the candidates will be screened for financial need and academic achievement

As a result of the Welcome Dinner attendees’ participation, we already have the minimum needed for a $10,000 total scholarship, dispersed over four years.  If this student takes the maximum amount of time to pay for student loans, the total impact to the student is well over $25,000!

Won’t you help ease the financial burden of medical school? The 2014 PCMS Board of Directors is challenging you to make a difference with a generous gift to the PCMS Scholarship Fund before the end of the calendar year!  “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something!”  Be a part of something big, and donate today.
