About My Society

Always Stronger Together

Through the Pitt County Medical Society, physicians of Pitt County promote and maintain the integrity of medicine. The medical society supports healthy lifestyles and promotes the safety and well-being of the community.

For physicians, PCMS offers more than just camaraderie. The primary value is referrals: this site receives, consistently, over 1,000 hits per month, and 55% land on the "Find a Physician" page. You will receive referrals from this mobile-enabled site—patients can find you and call you from their phones!

In 2016, PCMS will be presenting Community Education events to the public.  PCMS has given two four-year scholarships to Brody School of Medicine students, and continues to work on raising more funds for that fund.

The Member Benefits page will give you more information on discounts and the DocbookMD app for HIPAA-compliant messaging between physicians or with a team, exclusively for PCMS members!

Mission
The purpose of the Society shall be to bring together into one organization the physicians of Pitt County, to promote the science and art of medicine, and to foster the common interest of its members and the general public, to join with other county medical societies to form the North Carolina Medical society and through it, with other state societies, to form and maintain the American Medical Association.

History
The Pitt County Medical Society has a long and distinguished history that dates back to 1867. Celebrating 100 years in 2003, it received a charter from the North Carolina Medical Society in 1903.
